The German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (DSIK) is the development policy institution of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. It carries the Sparkassen model of success across regional borders into the world, with the aim of giving people in developing and emerging countries access to financial services and thus creating perspectives for a way out of poverty.
DSIK started its project interventions in Kenya in 2019 and runs activities within the scope of two regional projects, “Vocational and Commercial Education for the Microfinance Sector in Eastern Africa” and “Rural Development through Institutional Strengthening of the Microfinance Sector”. Other project countries in the region are Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda.
